My mom was a doctor working for the Govt of Karnataka(state in India). She was diagonized with Parkinson at the age of 45 years. Although doctors did not give her too much time with the disease, she lived for 22 years and died at the age of 67
She was on allopathic medicine Amantadine and Pacitane all thru her life. She took Sinamet for a few years and stopped post taking her retirement from her job. She worked for about 6 years post diagnosis. She was on syndopa briefly. Although her movements progressively deteriorated, we took good care of her and had a full time nurse to attend to. She was leading a normal life with respect to her daily routines. She was reading newspapers, interacting perfectly with family and guests and was always in good spirits till the end.
Why am i writing this here? None in my family have had MND before. I’m not sure what else could have caused it. Laying it here, in case it helps any researchers to dig in more about the situation. Feel free to contact me if you want to learn more about my or my mom’s condition when she was alive.
