One year…

Phew! It’s one year post MND diagnosis already! What a year it has been. A year that has seen me age even faster.

I had taken a few things in life for granted like –

  1. Walking on the road
  2. Driving a scooter
  3. Playing badminton with my daughter
  4. Being able to have a good conversation with family, relatives, colleagues and friends
  5. Being able to change the light bulb
  6. Typing as fast as I could an year back
  7. Doing the cross trainer
  8. Being able to take my car on long drives
  9. Carwash at home
  10. Quick bath
  11. Being able to trim my nails
  12. Going out shopping
  13. Being able to walk and talk freely without support
  14. Swimming
  15. Using the scissors
  16. Pulling a rubber band
  17. Able to get up from bed easily
  18. Able to run errands and help with household chores
  19. Turning on and off my car ignition

Cocktail of medicines and therapies I’m doing –

  1. Speech therapy
  2. Physiotherapy
  3. Natural Sanjeevini healing at Bull temple
  4. Rilutor – 3 tabs a day
  5. Muscle relaxants
  6. CBD oil
  7. TUDCA -1 gm a day
  8. Fresh juices daily – Pomegranate, Orange, Sweet lime(moosambi)
  9. Vegetarian diet
  10. Herbal life proteins, probiotics and L-serine
  11. Acupuncture, Homeopathy – now stopped as I did not find it to be effective

One year on I have lost many abilities that a man acquires since birth. The progression has been relentless. Any misstep is unforgiving. I have fallen a number of times, some of which have been fatal. This is the nature of this terrible disease. I have gone from a 45 year old to being a 70 year old, physically, in a matter of months. This disease kills by ageing people faster.

ventilator (Philips Triology) support. But going through your blog I am hopeful that devine blessings can overcome anything. May God bless you with your hope a new Sunshine may arise very soon and not only you but all the victims of ALS will able to reverse from this fatal situation.
